Community Care Reflection

Community Care Reflection:

Jose and Gonzala’s presentation was worthy of applause.  It reinforced the prevailing ethics, standards and practices that I abided by during my work as a parent educator and child development specialist in the mid-nineties. This work was toilsome and at times extreme.  Being forced to maintain the status quo of documentation stripped me of my need to be factual.  My supervisor deemed  my account of parental observation too detailed. I recall documenting that a parent appeared to be on her best behavior but only when I  was present. I also noted that I was concerned for the children in my absence. I don’t recall my exact expressions. I guess that they were annoying to my supervisor. Because of this, the mention of reunification  activated a grievance that has been laying unexpressed in my heart. My reaction was disconcerting. If I would have been permitted to submit my honest account(s), bad things would not have occurred.  I realized that I have another deep wound that needs healing.
